Lip surgery (Cheiloplasty) – What it is
Cheiloplasty is applied to individuals who desire fuller, more voluminous lips, as well as an increase in the volume of the upper lip.
Cheiloplasty aims to change the shape or size of the lips and eliminate vertical wrinkles around the mouth. It provides well-defined lips and restores their firmness.
How lip volume enhancement is performed
For cheiloplasty, either synthetic fillers or materials from the patient’s own body, such as fat, are used. The duration of the procedure is approximately one hour. It is performed under local anesthesia in the clinic, and the patient can return immediately to their daily activities.
It can be ideally combined with peeling to eliminate wrinkles around the mouth, or performed in combination with a facelift, blepharoplasty, or other facial procedures.
It should be noted that anything that deviates from natural proportions and facial harmony may result in an unaesthetic outcome. The procedure of cheiloplasty has often been criticized due to excessively unrealistic expectations from patients.
