Arm Lift – What it is

Arm lift is a procedure that aims to remove excess skin and fat in the upper arm area, which may result from aging or significant weight loss.

The upper arm often affects the overall appearance of both women and men. If it is not possible through conservative methods to develop sufficient muscle tone to support the area without sagging, or after significant weight loss where the tissue cannot return to its previous state, the Plastic Surgeon undertakes the correction of this laxity.
Arm lift is performed in two ways, depending on the degree of skin laxity:
With lipo-sculpting in cases of mild skin laxity, in order to avoid incisions. This requires that the patient has excess fat in another area of the body, which will be transferred and, under local anesthesia, injected into the arm to restore volume and stabilize the skin.
Arm lift surgery is performed when the doctor determines that the desired result cannot be achieved by other means. During the procedure, excess skin is removed through a very fine incision extending from the armpit to the elbow. The scar remains slightly visible for up to two years and then gradually fades.
The procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia, depending on the severity of the condition and whether it is combined with other surgical procedures, which Plastic Surgeon Georgia Horti can perform in a single operation due to her extensive surgical experience.
Return to daily activities can begin gradually from the first day after surgery and be completed within 1–2 weeks. After the procedure, a compression dressing is applied for approximately 15 days to minimize fluid retention and accelerate recovery. Light arm activity is recommended.
The results are long-term, provided there are no significant weight fluctuations.
