    Breast reduction

    Μειωτική στήθους

Reducing breast volume is the quickest change in body image. It relieves the physical strain caused by large breasts, improves their contour, makes them symmetrical, and proportionate to the rest of the body.

Breast reduction surgery in most cases is performed for medical reasons and for the physical relief of women rather than for aesthetic improvement. Sagging breasts limit physical activities and cause discomfort. With age and the onset of osteoporosis, the weight of the breasts can lead to kyphosis and back pain. Women with very large breasts may, in some severe cases, become introverted, isolated, and depressed. It has also been shown that reducing breast volume lowers the risk of breast cancer, as smaller breasts allow for safer examination both in imaging and palpation during annual check-ups.

The surgery does not affect breastfeeding. After the procedure, the nipple does not lose sensitivity, nor does the breast lose functionality.

    Mammographic screening is not hindered.

How breast reduction surgery is performed

Scars and swelling do not disappear immediately. They remain for a period of time, independent of the techniques used, and gradually fade and almost disappear.

The hospital stay usually lasts one day. Return to work occurs in 3–4 days. Patients can gradually resume all activities within 2–3 weeks after the surgery.

Stitches are removed after twenty days, and during the recovery period, a special bra is worn for three months.

The results are long-lasting but may be affected by future pregnancies, weight fluctuations, and skin elasticity.
