    Breast Reconstruction

    Αποκατάσταση μαστεκτομής

**Breast reconstruction after mastectomy** is a procedure that restores the shape and size of a woman’s breast that has been removed due to cancer, to the best possible condition depending on the extent of removal (total, partial, lumpectomy).
The procedure is performed either using a silicone implant or, in more complex cases, with flap transfer.

Most of the time, correction of the other breast is also needed. The goal is to create a new breast with a natural shape, size, and projection that is balanced with the rest of the body and symmetrical with the other breast. The nipple-areola complex can be reconstructed later to enhance the aesthetic result.

The techniques for breast reconstruction after mastectomy are numerous, and their timing is coordinated with the general surgeon who performed the mastectomy and with the oncologist. Reconstruction may involve the use of autologous tissue (skin, fat, muscle) from the other breast or another part of the body, or the use of silicone beneath the pectoralis major muscle.

Plastic Surgeon G. Chorti can, after a clinical examination, recommend the technique each woman specifically needs and explain all stages of the procedure.
